Paul Maguire

Director of Education - TARONGA CONSERVATION SOCIETY AUSTRALIA

Professional Bio

Paul is the Director of Education at the Taronga Conservation Society Australia and has worked there for 29 years. He is passionate about nature, conservation, youth leadership, Indigenous issues and behaviour change.
As the Director of Education Paul is focused on transforming students and guests into advocates for conservation – people who will do more and be more “for the wild”. To achieve this goal, he has developed many innovative education programs, exhibits, experiences, and partnerships. From a formal education perspective at Taronga programs are delivered to students from pre-school to university - including a national RTO called the Taronga Training Institute and a partnership degree in Wildlife Conservation Taronga delivered with the University of Sydney.

Paul has developed and implemented many award winning community conservation campaigns at Taronga based on the theory of planned behaviour change these campaigns drive conservation actions from guests that leads to positive outcomes both onsite and offsite. His favourite native animal is the enduring Short-beaked Echidna, and he is totally inspired by Chimps from an exotic perspective.
