Craig Hoover

Executive Vice President - AZA

Professional Bio

Craig is the Executive Vice President of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Craig is a part of the executive team that manages the Association, which represents more than 8,000 members, including more than 250 accredited zoological institutions in thirteen countries. Craig joined AZA in July 2019, bringing with him more than 25 years of international wildlife conservation experience. Craig also represents AZA on the WAZA Council. Craig previously worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for 20 years, including as the Chief of the Division of International Conservation in the USFWS’ International Affairs Program. The International Affairs Program coordinates domestic and international efforts to protect, restore, and enhance the world’s diverse wildlife and their habitats with a focus on species of international concern. Prior to this position, Craig was the Chief of the Division of Management Authority, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora Management Authority for the United States. Craig has also worked in the Fish and Wildlife Service’s Office of Law Enforcement and was the Deputy Director of TRAFFIC North America. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Loyola Law School.
